17th century manuscript on literature from Iraq called Makamat al Hariri.  I love how the margins of the text are filled with carefully taken notes.

This is a manuscript on Islamic Jurisprudence from the 18/19th century Ottoman era. Again… the margins! What amazing penmanship!

This colourful little gem is the Dala’il al Khayrat from 19th century Algeria. In it are a number of prayers, also known as Durood, blessing the Prophet (PBUH).

And last, but certainly not least… the Quran from 18th century Yemen. The verses are from Surah Qasas (28:16-21) which narrates the story of Moses. The first verse (16) reads: “He prayed: “O my Lord! I have indeed wronged my soul! Do Thou then forgive me!” So God forgave him: for He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.”
